Painting has been heavily keyed out and the tacking margin has snapped along bottom edge, and partly along left side and top. Canvas is brittle, slack and deformed in ridges. some pant loss has occurred to the left of the sitters head. paint loss along bottom edge adjacent to tacking margin. Canvas has shrunk and tacking holes are now visible in painting plane along left edge, top edge. Surface has blanched heavily due to aged wax coating. Surface is also very dirty. Verso is dirty and dusty.
